Bad medicine..

The Cub Scouts liked the decorations I have been obsessing over! Wanna see? Click here and here. My most beloved Cub Scout woke up with a fever and missed the whole thing. Double ear infection, sore throat and fever.

My son hates the liquid medicine he has to take. It's the same thing every time!! Why do they make the liquid medicine so disgusting!! It is always a battle!! The chewables are worse. At least with Zithromax, he only needs 3/4 of a teaspoon, which isn't much. But it's still a battle. He cries and begs and fights. We've tried everything. I actually get on the phone pretending to talk to the Doctor who wants to make sure he takes his medicine before he has to admit him into the hospital. Isn't that horrible?? When my son thinks he has to take it or go to the hospital, he finally does.

Can't they invent a patch for kids?? I wish I could stick a little patch in the middle of his back (so he can't reach it) that will release the antibiotic into his body. My son has chronic ear infections, so this has been a chronic problem. He NEVER takes any over the counter medicine either. It's hard enough to get him to take the prescribed meds, so I don't even try the stuff. Of course, the doctors are less than sympathetic, and when I explain he has such a hard with the medicine, they offer little to no alternatives. One nurse told me to swaddle him in a blanket and hold his nose until he opens his mouth and shove it in. My son was 5 years old at the time, and quite strong, but I figured I'd give it a try. It was horribly traumatic. I couldn't go through with it. I would have rather lived with the illness than the emotional effects of forcing him to take the medicine.

How about a little strip that melts on your tongue?? They have them for bad breath, how about for antibiotics?
